Since 2003, Orchard is always in the lime light and the place to go to soak yourself into the Christmas atmosphere. Last year, Christmas Wonderland was introduce into Gardens by the Bay and this year, the scale is bigger and better than the last!
Walking into Gardens by the Bay, you will see light sculptures that instantly create Christmas Wonderland festive mood. These light sculptures are called Luminaire that is specially handcrafted by skilled Italian craftsmen, they are design to emulate the mediaeval period and expect to find these 56 light sculptures all around.
Magnificent and elaborated Spalliera is smack right in the middle of Supertree Grove which boast 20.5m tall with a 360º view to enhance your experience.
Inside Spalliera sits a magical circular stage known as Cassa Armenia where you can enjoy most of the performances such as Christmas carolling, singer-songwriter sessions, theatrical and magic shows.
Garden Rhapsody, a daily audio and visual show will have a Christmas edition during this festive season to set you in the right mood and be in awe as the lights dance in sync with the rhapsody. Just before the show, lights from the Spalliera will be switched off to bring the focus to those Supertree for a wholesome effect. This is one of my favourite part of Christmas Wonderland.
Right after Christmas edition of Garden Rhapsody it is Blizzard Time where there will be fine foams spewing out from a few machines at Spalliera creating illusion of snow where you can make-pretend, capture the moment and unleash the inner child in you.
It is also a place where you can shop in the Christmas Market. You will be able to find many different and interesting gifts where you can purchase for yourself or for your love ones, not just that, there are many food stalls and trucks selling different types of cuisines ready to satisfy your appetite. Plus point for alcohol enthusiast like me, you can even enjoy a beer or two at Gardens by the Bay during this period.
If you prefer to dine in a proper place with proper sit down tables, chairs and servers, check out Spiegeltent, an elaborated 6 metre Mirror-tent made of wood with exquisite carvings, canvas and stained glass right beside Spalliera and enjoy a meal with in an air-conditioned make-shift restaurant.
One of the things to do during Christmas holiday in countries with winter and snow is to go ice-skating. Now, the carnival brings the ice-palace, an ice-skating rink to Singapore. If it gets too warm outside for your liking, check in here for a cool fun time on the ice. They provide little polar bears and penguins to help you get around the skating rink if you are not confident to skate without support.
Nearby the ice-skating rink, you will be able to spot huge and beautiful Christmas reindeer and sleigh Trick Art where you can take home memories as professional crews help you design your personalised trick-eye photographs. This Trick Art is able to cater to various group sizes.
Little children will be delighted and have an unforgettable time with a visit to Santa’s cozy little cottage. Meet the men himself to have a chat and share their Christmas wishes. In addition, there are plenty of children-friendly rides such as Carousel, Swinging Chairs, Helter Skelter Slide and Christmas Train that will keep them well-entertained.
Apart from child-friendly rides to keep the little children occupy, there are also plenty of carnival games to allow ‘older kids’ to relieve their the childhood days where there are no technology and mobile phones. There is always a joy to receive soft toys from your own ‘luck’ or talent isn’t it?
Head down to Gardens by the Bay this December to get into magical Christmas mood and have some fun because we all deserve a little fun and good times.
